TRIBUTES
Thank all of you so much for sharing your kind words here. Karn loved all of you so much

My older Tita, you are so missed. There isn’t a day that goes by, when I don’t think of you, and all the crazy, and funny things we did together. Tita, you were the best example of grace and kindness. I’ve always looked up to you for guidance. Now I will look up toward the heavens, and see your beautiful smile. Love you forever my Tita. Love, Val De Corte

I had the pleasure of working with Karen over 50 years ago. She was a kind loving person who was very much in love with her husband Dan, I became friends outside of work and visited their Seekonk, MA home several times before they moved to Hawaii. I also visited their homes on Oahu, and both homes on the big Island. I also introduced them to my bride to be Diane, and she also visited on several of my trips and developed a friendship with Karen and Dan. She was a beautiful soul and will be missed.

Dearest Karn, I will always be grateful for our unlikely meeting in the far reaches of the outback, many years ago, where you and Dan welcomed and embraced me with your warm friendship. Ever since, knowing you and being loved by you has been a rare and wonderful experience of unconditional acceptance. You lived life with your heart wide open, loving so many as family. I was one of the lucky ones, as was Andrew, Beth, Millie and your loving godson, Ollie. We will forever love you and hold your memory in our hearts. Dan, you have our ongoing love and support. We love you.

Karn was one of those truly special people who made you feel so cared by being in her presence. She took me in as a friend and, in so many ways, cared for me like family. She and Dan welcomed me, supported me, fed me, and gave so generously during a time in my life when that kindness meant more than she probably ever knew. I will always be grateful for the love and care she showed me, and I will carry those memories with me forever. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been one of the people she welcomed into her life. Love you Karn. Rest in peace.

Karn you were a very special lady, so generous with your time and love. I cherish the time we spent in Broome together. Your acts of love and friendship included making frangipani leis and head pieces for my 30th and I’ll never forget the slow cooked pork Hawaiian style for my appreciative cooking students. We had so much fun in Broome, you and Dan were like my surrogate flamboyant parents. I love you and will be sending much love to your true love Dan too. Rest in Peace Karn 💜🙏

One of my favorite memories of Aunt Karen, my moms beautiful sister will always be watching you ride a roller coaster with my little Jake when he was just 4 years old. The joy on both of your faces is something I’ll never forget. That moment captures exactly how I’ll remember you—full of love, laughter, courage, and a beautiful spirit. ❤️🙏🏻

Karen What a wonderful and amazing person she was, always smiling and happy to talk to anyone. We really hit the jackpot having her as a neighbour and a friend, James and Alex loved to see her on the morning walks coming past the house, dogs in tow. We will always have fond memories of our time spent with Karn. Truely an amazing life and human.

Dear Karn, Thank you for the love you showed me while you were here on Earth. I will always cherish our time spent together when I visited and while talking and writing. You lived a beautiful life, helping others as a nurse and as a friend, with a loving marriage full of adventure and learning and making the absolute most of life. I am grateful that you are no longer suffering and are at peace and reunited with loved ones who went before you. We will take care of Dan.
Love you. Chlo xxxx

Peace, love, smiles and laughter, whether in person or in memory, that's your gift Karn. Love to Dan and everyone who gets to share it.

I would not be where I am today without having you and Dan in my life. For the last 38 years - you were there for me - whether we lived a few miles apart or a few thousand. Always positive, always so thoughtful and always the perfect example of what it means to live life at the best and happiest level. Everyone who knew you is a better person because of it. I love you and I thank you 🩷

We first met Dan and Karen around about 1995 whilst living in Hilo, Hawaii. Mutual friends invited us to their beach house at weekends and a strong friendship quickly developed. As a friend, Karen brought a warmth and love into our lives that she no doubt also brought into the many lives of those that she encountered during her nursing career, healing and comforting others. We are truly thankful for her friendship and for the many times we spent together laughing and enjoying life (such as in the photo with Derek & Dee during our visit to Australia). While her absence leaves a massive void in our hearts, her legacy of a loving kindness lives on in every life that she touched.

Dearest Karen. Even though we haven't seen each other in years we've always stayed in touch. You were such a big help to me when my kids were little and I dislocated my thumb and their dad was on a trip. I was so very grateful. It's been so much fun to follow yours and Dan's story. What a great life, attitude, and so much fun! You drew so many people into your lives, all because of the dear, welcoming people you were. You'll be greatly missed.

To Karen, The last time I saw your smile, ear to ear and so happy to be home. Now, smiles in photographs, but so many great moments to choose from. The last time I heard your voice, big plans for my visit to Perth. Now, just a whisper in my ear, but still a guiding force. The last time I smelt & tasted your baking - no, it was my attempt at gluten free pumpkin pie. Now, it’s hoping there’s some pirogues in the freezer, because your magic isn’t in the recipe! The last time I touched you, washing your hair, trying to be gentle but fast. There is no next time, no more walking hand in hand, no more birthday facials, no more shopping for fabrics, no more …. but adventures will continue and you will always be there. Signing off as usual, Love you Dan, we stand with you as we acknowledge Karn’s past, present and future.

I am so grateful for the book club get-togethers we shared. You opened your home and heart to me and my family and you were exceptionally kind and loving towards me. I will really miss you, Karn. I am encouraged by the truly terrific marriage you had with Dan and the very happy life you had in Perth.

I first met Karn and Dan in 1992 in Hilo, Hawaii. We all happened to be volunteering at a food bank and started chatting. Through the conversation, we discovered that Dan went to the same small college as my dad! From that moment, the 3 of us were instant friends. Karn was such a light, and I am so grateful to have been lucky enough to have had her in my life. After all these years, and all the distance, I think of her and smile. Karn, we will all miss you. Take care of Dan. Enjoy your next adventure.
Love to you. Mary Jo xo

It's so sad to get the news of Karen's passing Thinking of her brings back memories of Seekonk Massachusetts; a trip up to Moosehead Lake Maine with her and Dan, a hike with C’more, their Bassett hound who we lifted from rock to rock and our two great trips to the big island with her. We loved her even though the distance kept us from seeing her as often as we would have liked but when we did it was always like we never missed a day Her infectious laugh, her love of Dan and compassion for others surely will be missed What a wonderful human who is now an angel for all who knew her.

Dear Karen. Thank you for your neighbourhood kindness over the years. We'll miss you walking past our house and hearing about all the fabulous stories you had to tell. Thank you for the yummy choc chip cookies that you baked for us every Christmas and the vegies from your garden. You'll always be in our hearts.

My Australian Parents…. Dan and Karn… the support, the love, the caring, the laughs, the food, the visits, the memories… Karn, thank you for always looking out for me, thinking of me, and taking care of me. You will be so so so missed but you will live on in my heart and the happy memories that are too numerous to count.

Dearest Karen, I’m forever grateful for the love and support, the unwavering kindness, and the immediate acceptance as family - I can’t imagine our immigration to Australia without you playing a part. My heart breaks that we will have no more wines out by the pool or meals at Chins, or the Glades. But you are not gone, you will always be here- in my heart and mind, and in the 1 million photos Dan took of all of us .

Dear Karn, We met over 30 years ago. You and Dan welcomed me into your lives like a daughter and supported me through every single aspect of my life. It is difficult to find the words to capture who you were and how you helped me become who I am today. Karn, you always had a smile and word of encouragement for me. You and Dan have been with me throughout so many life milestones and for that I am grateful. Karn and Dan opened their doors to me and into their lives. My time with them in Australia brought me irreplaceable memories from walks on Cable Beach, midnight swims, Queen blasting at full volume, and our hilarious house pole we decorated. Thank you Karn for your endless love and support and never giving up on me. I miss you. I am profoundly grateful for your memory that spans from my youth to adulthood.
Love, Aimee Kelly
